Napoleon Hill's Science of Success Study #1
Today I’m going to be reviewing one of the core lessons that I’ve learned from this particular study course, this is PMA 17 lessons, The Science of Success by Napoleon Hill and this was actually a course that was given through his business schools and I was able to find this book on Amazon and today I’m just gonna go over the chapter titled learning from adversity and defeat.
I think it’s really important as an entrepreneur and as just a person in life trying to be successful, trying to gain momentum and get over some hard times that we come to understand what adversity really means. He says everybody is gonna go through this in life and there is a certain amount of temporary defeat but you can find hope in the knowledge that every such defeat carries with it the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit.
For every time something bad is happening or something that arises maybe in your business, your personal life, relationships, pulling through a rocky time, just realize that the darkest point is always before the dawn. At any moment you going to see things in a different way. I believe that when we experience defeat or maybe a setback, it forces us to take a step back and look at where we are, where we want to be, and what we need to do to get there. You should be doing this on a daily basis and on a weekly basis and assessing you’re goals and where you want to be but it’s different when adversity comes up because it forces you to sort of re-position and come up with a different strategy as to where you want to be with your goals because maybe this particular one is all of sudden not working out, so at this point you gonna reassess, you’re gonna make a new plan.
There’s another thing that he said that I really liked and this explains when you’re in that waiting period and you just don’t know how to get past it. You know you’re in that sort of temporary defeat mode and you’re not quite sure what the next step is.Maybe you’re trying some things out, you’re changing your plan but know this, the success side of the river of life is attainable through definiteness of purpose ,applied faith, the mastermind alliance and a willingness to go the extra mile.
These are the big four of these seventeen principle that Napoleon Hill goes over and if you basically focus on these four principles then you’re gonna be on your way to be a step ahead especially when you see everybody else sort of floundering around behind you and they don’t know where to go, their river is going backwards, you’re gonna be pushing your little canoe up that river. So just keep these in mind:
Definiteness of purpose
knowing what you want, what’s your major goal.
making sure that not only do you say you believe that things are going to work out but you’re taking actions that actually suggest that you believe it.
Form groups with like-minded people and support each other with your goals wholeheartedly, make sure to meet at least once a week if not twice.
Willingness to go the extra mile
I think this one is important too because people will think “I’m gonna keep doing what I am doing but I am gonna slightly change things.” No not necessarily is that gonna work out because I think at that point you would have realized that you are probably not going the extra mile or you need to do it in a different way.
So just think about those four pieces of the puzzle and apply that when you’re experiencing that temporary defeat and I guarantee you are gonna be head above everybody else that’s in that same boat or in something similar.
